Feels like a second home now.  Thanks to great friends and hosts Steve Peer, Phill McIntyre, and Dan Crook & Carla Sandstrom in Lebanon, N.H., we’ve had some wonderful times and met many more friendly neighbors to the south. We’re back again for another tear, and just last night had a wicked ceilidh dance party at 430 Bayside Rd. in Ellsworth. We’re in Lewiston tonight, South Carthage Wednesday the 13th, Unity Thursday the 14th, Boothbay Harbor Friday the 15th, and Lyme, N.H. on Saturday the 16th. See the gigs page for venues and ticketing info, and hope to see you there! xoxo

Ashley MacIsaac & Friends at GAMS Benefit Concert

Cape Breton’s favorite musicians are coming together to put on a magnificent show in Cheticamp!

Ashley MacIsaac is excited to be a part of the GAMS benefit concert on Sunday, July 24th with Chris Babineau and Maybelle Chisholm McQueen accompanying him. Cyril MacPhee, the Colin Grant Band, and a few surprises are sure to keep everyone entertained all evening.

With a number of other fun activities alongside the music, such as touch-tank and face-painting for the kids, raffles, and an auction for an event poster signed by the musicians, the event promises a fun-filled afternoon for the whole family. The show will wind down with a good old-fashioned kitchen party. Local step-dancers and musicians will light up the stage and have the whole audience dancing in their seats!

Due to popular demand, the event will now have a bar! There will be lots of fun and educational activities to keep the kids happy, so don’t be afraid to bring the whole family.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the opening of a Marine Centre in Inverness County, Cape Breton, which will act as a venue for education, research, and community-building around the Gulf of St. Lawrence and its fishery. Don’t miss this opportunity to have a great time and help a good cause!

The concert will take place Sunday, July 24th at 3:00pm at the Cabot Trail Arena in Cheticamp, NS. Tickets are $20 (except $10 for kids 12 and under, and free for kids 5 and under). Tickets are available locally at LeBlanc’s General Store, Charlie’s Music Store, and Le Petit Chady, and also through Ticket Atlantic online at www.ticketatlantic.com, Ticket Atlantic Box Office, participating Atlantic Superstores and charge by phone (902) 451-1221 or Toll Free 1-877-451-1221  ($2 service charge applies).

See you there!

CGB off to CelticFest Vancouver next week!

Posted on March 7, 2011 by coling in News

It’s not quite warming up fast enough in Cape Breton, so Colin Grant Band is off to the balmy coast of B.C. for some spring-like weather and a week of tunes at Celtic Fest Vancouver. It’s not quite warming up fast enough in Cape Breton, so Colin Grant Band is off to the balmy coast of B.C. for some spring-like weather and a week of tunes at Celtic Fest Vancouver. What post-Olympic sports will they discover? What is the SkyTrain, and is it from The Future? Is the zipline still running in downtown? Will Wayne Gretzky carry the flame down Granville St. during CGB’s performance on the Granville St. stage? We imagine all the answers to these questions to be ‘yes’, and know that downtown YVR will never be the same. Click here to go to CelticFest Vancouver’s website and see a list of our performances.
